long neck is a complex necklace combining multiple materials and techniques. one of my favorite things about this piece is the versatility of the design without a clasp. it is made from forged pieces of silver that i took from previous necklaces i had made to make a new necklace. the ends of the long forged pieces are embellished with two enameled bell shape elements with gold spoon clappers.

a rich and lustrous green hue is my favorite color of gold. i alloyed 18 karat green gold to make the spoon shaped clappers for this piece. the surface treatment of the enameled bells is scraffito. for this necklace, i scratched through the enamel to draw spoon people figures on the surface, repeating the design of the clappers.

the enameling finish is a dark hue so that even though the finish is shiny it still absorbs the light. this is a rich contrast to the reflective textural qualities of the forged pieces and a component of the design.
