the central focus of this piece is a large alloyed gold circle. i enjoy the feel of working with gold. it is such a malleable metal. the circle piece is probably 18 karat green gold. the rest of the necklace is composed of forged silver connecting pieces. it is a strong design without clasp, intended to go over the head. the necklace is worn with the gold circle not centered at the bottom but somewhere on the side between the nape of the neck and the bottom curve.
circle neck is third in a series of necklaces that i made that include spoon neck and long neck. the three necklaces compose a study where the common element of design is the forged pieces that function as connecting pieces. it is these forged pieces and their shared texture that is central to my theme of reflected light. i never tire of making these forged pieces.
